From working in the office to going out with friends, many of our routines have been halted to help slow the spread of COVID-19. As we do our part, it’s important to avoid cabin fever and spend time getting some fresh air. Here are a few ways to take a break from the indoors and safely spend some time outside:
Have a Picnic in Your Backyard: You don’t have to venture further than your own yard to spend some time outside. Pack up a sack lunch, lay out a blanket and enjoy your lunch break outdoors.
Enjoy Yoga On the Balcony: If you don’t have a backyard, don’t let that stop you from getting some fresh air. With so many free online classes available to the public now, take advantage of it. Simply turn the volume up on your laptop or tablet and follow along on your balcony. If you’re without a yard or balcony, simply open up your windows to let in a fresh breeze.
Get a Head Start on Some Yard Work: It’s time to check off an item or two on that never-ending yard work list. Prep your garden boxes, add a new flower bed or fertilize your lawn. The more you do now, the less you’ll have to do later.
Do Everyday Tasks Outside: From sorting the mail to training the dog, a lot of everyday tasks can be moved outside. Soak up the sun and enjoy the breeze.
Walk Around the Block: Taking a stroll around the block is safe as long as you maintain social distancing. If you live in a crowded, urban area it may be best to avoid walks around the block altogether (or take a walk at a less busy time).
Spending time outdoors is rejuvenating for your mind and body. Following good judgment and the CDC guidelines, we can easily spend some time getting some fresh air – even if that just means cracking a window open for a fresh breeze.
